The Feedback Wheel includes four steps:
1. What you saw or heard about a certain issue.
2. What you perceive about the problem; what you believe
3. How you feel about it.
4. What you would like to have happen in the future.
THOUGH, I am so heartened about the wonderful town halls, and the wonderful energy that is motivating the screaming at the Congress people having the town halls, I fear that if we can't figure out a way to communicate with them, that the Congress People will just write us off as "angry, organized liberals", ( as stated by #45, to which I say, well my goodness, #45, you have a tremendous grasp of the OBVIOUS).
AND now, that we have gotten their attention, I think if we communicate using the Feedback Wheel or NVC or other forms of advanced communication, we will be more likely to get what we want.
For example, if we were to talk with a Congress person about the Environment we could use the above steps in the following way :
(this is written as if I were speaking to my Senator or Representative)
1. I see that #45's cabinet is filled with people who don't believe in Climate Change despite the fact that Scientists in our country and all over the world have proven that it is happening.(This is factual)
2. My perception is that the Republicans want to people please Big business so they can stay in office longer with Big Business behind them and so they actually LIE( even to themselves) about Climate Change not being a Reality( this is the belief section), so that Big Business will pour money into their coffers and let them stay elected.
3.Scared, embarrassed about how we are seen in the world, sad and angry. ( Feelings section, when we say " I Feel, it must always be followed by a feeling word)
4.I want to have a meeting with you and some scientists who will present irrefutable knowledge about Climate Change so you will do what you can to protect our earth rather than to protect Big business.
